As the most widely used over-the counter drug throughout the world, its use was largely confined to relief of pain.Howeverm last couple of decades have witnessed a majorshift in the spectrum of its applications.Pharmacological knowledge about aspirin has advanced rapidly and now we understand more accurately the anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti platelet actions of aspirin.The antithrombotic effects of aspirin were confirmed in the late 1960s and placebo controlled trials of the use of aspirin to prevent thrombotic
